KEEN runners in Launceston and surrounding villages who have had to travel outside the area to purchase their running shoes will soon be able to shop locally, thanks to a partnership between Launceston Cycles and Run Venture Running Hub.

Launceston Cycles, which moved to new premises on Pennygillam Industrial Estate at the end of October, will remain open as an essential service during the second lockdown.

Owner, Simon Owens, shared news of the exciting partnership with Colin Kirk-Potter of Run Venture, based in Tavistock.

Run Venture will open a satellite shop within Launceston Cycles. They are currently waiting on new stock to arrive, but the plans are imminent.

This means that as well as stocking a full range of running shoes, they will be able to offer a running and gait analysis, to help customers select the best pair of running shoes for them. Everyone runs differently, and the analysis will show which areas of support are needed.

Simon said: “It’s amazing. Since the move, we’ve seen a lot more traffic and in December we were extremely busy. As well as bikes, people were coming to us for Christmas presents as well. People are starting to realise Launceston Cycles is here.”

The shop’s popularity looks set to soar further, as the country goes into a second lockdown and people are only permitted to exercise in their local area.

Simon said: “It’s the same as the first lockdown for us. People are keen to get out and do a bit of exercise. It’s good to know that we are helping as many people as we can.”
