BANGORS Organic, based in Poundstock, has won a prestigious BOOM award at a glittering ceremony held at Borough Market Hall, London.
The Best of Organic Market awards celebrated the best innovative and great tasting organic products, and Bangors Organic was selected at this year’s winner of the Places to Stay category.
An independent panel of experts in good food judged the products over several days in March. Judges included chefs, restaurateurs, food writers, celebrity foodies and consumer judges.
Owners, Neil and Gill Faiers have combined their love of an organic lifestyle with a beautiful, comfortable and unique B&B, situated just minutes from the fabulous surfing beaches of North Cornwall, and serving entirely certified organic food.
Previously known as the Organic Food Awards, the awards have been showcasing the best in organic for almost 30 years. This year, the awards included a wide variety of categories, such as cheese, dairy, fresh produce, bakery, confectionary, chilled and frozen and meat and poultry.
The BOOMs went interactive this year, using social media to stir up interest and the addition of a new ‘Nation’s Favourite’ category gave people the chance to choose their favourite product.
Gill Faiers said: “We were delighted and honoured to win; it means so much to us to receive this accolade from the Soil Association, because we are so passionate about organics.”
Anna Jones, this year’s BOOM ambassador, said: “I believe that food and eating should be joyful, and good organic produce is at the centre of this joy. There has been a real shift towards people wanting to know the origins of what they’re eating — from where it was grown, to who planted the seeds — and organic produce has these values at its core.
“I am excited to celebrate the individuals and businesses that are giving us some brilliant choices about what we buy and eat.”
