THERE was not a spare seat in Poundstock Gildhouse for the recent charity cider and pasty evening with the Boscastle Buoys.

The crowd was not disappointed — the refreshments, singing and humour were deemed 'excellent'.

More than £140 was raised in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care.

During the first half the group entertained with a mix of Celtic-based sea shanties and Cornish mining songs as well as one or two new pieces. In the second half the audience joined in with many of the well-known songs and were entertained by the humorous links from Roger (The coalman) Nichols.

The concert kicked off a line-up planned at the Gildhouse for the 2014 season.?As well as the monthly Wednesday evening talks there are concerts and an art exhibition organised during the year.

The next event is a 'spring spectacular' at 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 9 when Erica and Sophie from Bleujen Florists will be demonstrating the skills that have won them many awards in floral competitions both nationally and internationally.
