A CHRISTMAS fair was held in Launceston Town Hall on Sunday, December 2 with proceeds being split between the Launceston Memory Cafe and Taylor Gerry’s Cornwall Cricket Under 15s tour to the West Indies in the spring.
One of the organisers, Jean Clements, who is the grandmother of Taylor, said it went really well.
Jean said: “It was fantastic. I was here there and everywhere and we had people in and out all day.It went on from 10 to 3 with money going towards the Launceston Memory Cafe and the Cornwall Cricket Under 15s trip. Taylor has to raise £2,500 for his trip to Barbados.
“There were 38 different stalls in total including jewellery, tickety-boo, soaps, pictures, pebble art, tombola, complete cushions with different animals, wooden toys and much more. Bespoke Balloons also did a fantastic display and we also had father Christmas.”
The money earned from the kitchen and the tables will go towards Taylor.
Jean said: “Taylor goes in April and we’ve been doing bingos once a month in St Mary’s Church Hall.
“The money has to be in March and we’re well over halfway.”
Jean issued a thanks on behalf with fellow organiser Cym Downing, who was raising money for the memory cafe.
She said: “Cym and I on behalf of the charities would like to thank everyone for their support and all of the stallholders and I’d also like to thank Dave and Carol Gordon, the volunteers who set it up and everyone who worked in the kitchen.
“I took the table money and the kitchen money and Cym took the money from the draw and ticket sales.”
Cym issued her own thanks. “After deductions we’ll have made around £1,200.We had about 60 to 70 draw prizes which were donated, and Horizon Plastics sponsored the draw tickets which were worth £100.
“I spent the afternoon selling draw tickets and talking to people and it was great afternoon.”
