At 11am on Sunday, May 3 Bude lady, Sue Burges, completed a 1,005 mile long cycle ride! Fifty six year old Sue had cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats. The journey, which Sue completed unsupported, took 14 days, cycling up to 87 miles each day. The weather conditions were fair for much of the trip although the stretch around Aviemore was particularly damp and the second of only two punctures didn't help. Having trained around Bude, the hills en route proved surmountable, the worst, in fact, being in Cornwall and Devon. The major problems were the lack of road signs on smaller roads, navigating Greater Manchester and getting out of Edinburgh! Sue, who is a member of Launceston Road Runners and Bude Tennis Club has not finished her challenges for 2009. She is hoping to complete all 15 races in the Cornish Grand Prix road running series and a half iron man triathlon, as well as playing in the Cornwall Tennis Summer League. An energetic year!
