TWO siblings from Bude have completed their Cornish Coastal Challenge, raising money for local boys Talan Penny and Benny Bennett, as well as the national charity Clic Sargent.

Samuel and Poppy Jennings have recently completed their Cornish Coastal Challenge to raise money for Talan Penny, a young man from Bude who is living with a very rare type of cancer, as well as Benny Bennett, Samuel and Poppy’s third cousin who also has a form of cancer.

Benny’s parents told the Jennings family about the support they had received from Clic Sargent during Benny’s treatment, and the importance of this national charity, which is why the youngsters decided to share the fundraising money between Talan, Benny and Clic Sargent.

The Cornish Coastal Challenge involved walking the length of Cornwall from Marsland Mouth to Lands End, which was approximately 141 miles.

Taking place in the half term week, Samuel and Poppy walked up to 22 miles a day, and walked over 10 miles uphill.

Samuel and Poppy managed to raise a grand total of £3,507, with £1,169 being split between each chosen recipient.

Having completed various challenges to raise money for charity before, Samuel is still as modest as ever, focusing on raising money for local causes whilst always giving himself a challenge.

Samuel has raised over £25,000 from two bike rides, a triathlon, and now has the Cornish Coastal Challenge to add to this.

Paul Jennings, father of Samuel and Poppy, told the Post: “Samuel sees his challenges as a way to raise some money for people within the local community, and kids’ charities.

“It could no way be possible if not for the incredibly generous people of Bude and the many businesses. The overwhelming support makes them realise just how special growing up in Bude is.”

Poppy has tried joining in with her brother for a while, having been too young to get involved with the cycling challenges and, instead, sold some of her old toys to contribute to the fundraising. However, this time she was certainly keen to join in with her brother on the challenge.

Samuel and Poppy are already planning their next charity event, and it is hoped that they will be able to raise yet even more money for some welcome charities.
