BUDE hotelier Richard Steel and furniture producer Sara Zoeftig are in training to attempt the gruelling 'Iceland Laugavegur ultra marathon'.
This multi-terrain 37 mile course will test them to the limits running across sand, gravel, snow, glaciers and river crossings, but hopefully not too close to some rather active volcanoes that are presently erupting.
Luckily living in the area, the Cornish coast path provides an excellent training ground for running on tough terrain and they are both training hard six days a week to get ready for the challenge.
The energetic couple are attempting the run as part of a fundraising campaign to try and raise £10,000 for CWS. The 'Child Welfare Scheme' is a charity which supports disadvantaged children and young people in Nepal.
Nepal is the least developed country in Asia, with its poverty made worse by years of internal conflict.
Sara's sister Katy, a local primary school teacher in Bude, and husband Gary spent much time working voluntarily for CWS out in Nepal, and have been very involved with the charity ever since having seen the amazing work that is being done and children that are being helped.

Richard, the owner of elements hotel and bistro in Bude, is also having a charity garden party on the June 20 (father's day) and there will be live jazz, food, kids entertainment and even a little croquet. Tickets available from elements or http://www.justgiving.com/elementsgardenparty">www.justgiving.com/elementsgardenparty.
Elements are also donating 100 per cent of money from the sales of Cornish spring water in the restaurant this year to CWS.
