Drambluie Rinse (D R) have expressed their thanks to all of the readers who supported their campaign by voting for team D R.
The team was over 2,000 votes ahead of second place meaning they win the £2,500 first prize for Cornwall Air Ambulance. The Drambuie pursuit is a multi discipline event held in Scotland each year and in order to enter the event, the group of four had to secure their place.
The team was up against some very strong opposition and other deserving charities, but Cornwall united to bring the cash to the South West.
Now the girls, very satisfied with the outcome of the first phase of the challenge, are now determined to do a good job on the day. They are training hard in all of the nine different disciplines and realise just how lucky they are to have some of the best coaches in the country, including national and even world champions.
Friends have been wonderful too, helping with the tuition and sharing their equipment.
The event takes place on May 8, starting from The Isle of Skye at 6am and crossing the Highlands, before running in to Inverness and the finish line at what ever time it takes the girls to get there.
Team member Bridget Funnell said: "It's all slightly unknown territory as never before has there been an all female team and just take a look at the disciplines we compete in en route."
The group have expressed huge thanks to all of the people and businesses that have been involved and helped with the training and given advice.
Bridget added: "Massive thanks to all of you and everybody who voted too, well done Cornwall."
