A PUBLIC inquiry into the appeal by Catesby Property Group against Cornwall Council's refusal to grant planning go-ahead for its Binhamy development, began at Bude on Tuesday and is expected to last five days.
The appeal is being heard by Mr Harold R Stephens, representing the Secretary of State, and local objectors and supporters were expected to give evidence on Thursday.
Catesby want to develop 350 houses, 77 sheltered homes, a supermarket and other business units on the Stratton Road site.
Opening Cornwall Council's representative claimed that the revised proposals had not been as well publicised as they might have been.
But, Mr Jeremy Carhill, for Catesby, said it was an outline application not a full one.
A long list of those to give evidence was presented to the inquiry at the Falcon Hotel, Bude.
The Binhamy Fighting Fund has raised over £11,000 to fight the plan. SEE next week's 'Post' for a full report.
