FOLLOWING a slow frustrating journey behind wind turbines and 1957 John Deere tractors, we eventually arrived at Newquay with minutes to spare for our first rowing race, writes Mel Bardsley.
The Year 12/13 boys' race covers 2,000m in the fastest time possible.?This year we had three strong young men entered for this event — Joel Davey, Keiran Hammond and George Lumley.
Throughout the race Joel was leading and looked strong with a consistent stroke rate of 1.48.5/500m. George and Keiran were slow to start but soon got into their stroke and built up their stroke rate.
Final positions:?Joel 1st gold medal time for 2000m 07.14.4, George 3rd bronze medal 07.17.5 and 5th Keiran Hammond 07.28.2. What a fantastic start to the event, two medals for Budehaven.
