Budehaven Year 7 football team were recently crowned county champions. The final was a real thriller with the North Cornwall boys defeating Penryn Sports College 9-8 on penalties after a roller coaster three all draw in normal time. Budehaven twice came from behind and gained a 3-2 lead with 15 minutes to play but Penryn equalised with a 30 yard wonder goal to tie things up again. Budehaven dominated the closing stages but could not force the winner resulting in a nail biting penalty shoot out. Two goals came from the top scorer Jack Watson and the third was a spectacular volley from Joe Hurrell. Mr Dyer Head of Year 7 and coach of the team said: "This is one of the strongest teams we have seen at Budehaven. I have won the county cup previously on three occasions but never in the Under 12 age group. The trick has been to blend the club sides of Bude and Morwenstow to produce a very strong all round team." Budehaven Under 12s remain unbeaten for the season and look forward to future success next year.
