In the photograph (the 'Post', June 25) the central awning reads Wroe & Briggs (the latter was a 'sleeping' partner). The shop to the right is Furze and Jones, butchers and to the left is Banbury's Ironmongery (also Lloyds Shipping Agent).

My parents' home was a maisonette above and Mr and Mrs Banbury's home was the brickbuilt house to the left of their shop. My parents married in 1925 and I was born in 1927.
