Bude Rats' (Runners and Triathletes) first ever Junior Triathlon took place on Saturday, June 6 with over 70 competitors lining up for the various categories.
Years 4 and 5 swam one length of the Sea Pool, Years 6 and 7 swam two lengths, Years 8 and 9 swam three lengths before running across Summerleaze Beach then along the canal side on to the Crescent car park for the final cycle transition taking the path towards the A39 and back to the finish line in the Crescent car park.
The adverse weather turned competitors and spectators alike into water rats but that certainly didn't detract from the atmosphere on the day.
It was exciting to see entrants from as far afield as Hampshire enjoying a new Rats event, and thanks were expressed to all the competitors, their parents, Rats President Simon Hammond and the rest of the Rats crew. They are looking forward to another great Junior Tri next year.
