Craft and bric-a-brac items, all either made or donated by club members and friends alike, were quickly purchased. Sales of raffle tickets were also in great demand to win the beautiful quilt or wall hanging or put in the highest bid for the stunning patchwork jacket on display. These items had all been made by Doreen.
This turned out to be a very successful and most enjoyable, happy day. There were lots of willing club members helping out, having provided many cakes, patchwork items and bric-a-brac.
Rotarian Rob Blake kindly brought a Shelterbox for display, it was incredible to see all the items which go in to form a life-saving pack for those in need. There was a constant stream of people and the tea and coffee served gave them a chance to sit and admire the quality and quantity of work that had been produced.
Dan Rogerson MP for North Cornwall, with his wife and family, arrived during the afternoon and made the draw. The first prize, the quilt, went to Sue Bentley. Second prize, a wallhanging, went to Carol Yeo and third prize, a wine bottle holder, went to Denise Luxton.
The magnificent result was over £1,120 which has been passed onto Shelterbox. This will enable at least two complete boxes to be purchased and money towards a third. The organisation of these sales which Doreen and the club have instigated over the past years has brought the amount of boxes provided to seven.
Doreen wished to say a big thank you to all club members and local people for their generosity, also to everyone who went and helped in any way to support.
