MOST Masonic Lodges and Chapters are slowly getting back to normal following a prolonged period of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including Granville Chapter No.3405 which is attached to Granville Lodge and meets in Bude.
Many lodges have chapters attached to them which are allocated the same number. The Masonic ritual is different but the aims and objects are the same with charity being at the heart of all free masonry.
The Cornish First Principals’ Chapter No.3324, which was founded in 1970, is open to members of chapters who have been the First Principal or Master of their chapter. It meets three times a year at various venues in Cornwall.
The Chapter held it’s most recent meeting on Saturday, September 25, at Bodmin when various elections and administrative items were on the agenda. The members were pleased to welcome the Grand Superintendent of Cornish Chapters, David Pascoe, to the meeting. The Principals and members also welcomed two new joining members and received reports from the Almoner and the Treasurer. Following the meeting the members had lunch at the Westbury Hotel when the traditional Masonic toasts were honoured.
A collection and raffle raised over £190 for the 2024 Festival Appeal in aid of the Masonic Charitable Foundation.
Two members of Granville Chapter No.3405 attended the meeting. Keith Taylor the secretary and Peter Reeve the director of ceremonies. The next meeting will take place in January 2022.Granville Chapter No.3405 which is attached to Granville Lodge and meets in Bude held it’s first meeting of the new masonic season on Monday, September 27. Due to an extended period without any meetings the members had a large amount of administrative work to get through. The most important item on the agenda was to elect the three Principals who will take over the running of the chapter in November. Derek Prouse was elected First Principal, Mike Davison as Second Principal and John Weller as Third Principal. Various other officers were elected with Arthur Baker taking the office of treasurer. Keith Taylor will continue as secretary and Peter Reeve as director of ceremonies. Following the meeting a charity collection was made with this other donations and a raffle over £100 was raised for worthy causes.
The charity steward, Charlie Yelland, thanked the members and guests for their support. After the meeting the members and guests dined in the refectory and honoured the traditional chapter toasts. The members of Granville Lodge No.3405 are still working hard raising funds for their Provincial Grand Masters 2024 Festival Appeal in aid of the Masonic Charitable Foundation.
A Charity Race Night has been organised for November 20 at Bude Masonic Hall with all proceeds going to the Masonic Charitable Foundation.
The next meeting of Granville Chapter will take place on Monday, November 22.
