CHRISTOPHER Bale has been invited to attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday July 21. This is in recognition of his tireless work for the local community raising several hundreds of pounds for charity over the years. Some charities to benefit have been the Macmillan Nurses, Cancer Research and the Lifeboat Institution of which he is a member of the crew and has been with the organisation for many years.

One of Chriss proudest achievements was to realise his dream of bringing a Cornish Pilot Gig Boat to Bude Harbour. After some years of research and many set backs he finally put together a committee of which he was chairman. After five years in the chair steering the Club forward Chris stood down to allow a change of personnel and most of all fresh ideas. In doing so the club made him Life Member in recognition of his achievements.

Another of his achievements is singing with Mevagissey Male Choir of which he has been a member for over 14 years, travelling every Monday night to Mevagissey for rehearsals, a 100 miles round trip. In between singing with the choir he arranges concerts with the view of promoting the Choir and at the same time raising much needed funds for charities and church funds.

Chris feels he has been inspired a great deal in this work by a very good friend in Ray Shaddick, who himself undoubtedly has been a pillar of strength in the name of charity. Rays first words possibly would be, Well then, what do you reckon?, his next Us better have a cup of tea or a little stronger and think about it. Mind you tea wins every time.

Also to be mentioned is Chriss brother Raymond as he will always run around with the concert posters. Also, Robin, Chriss son has given his time to help his dad especially with the delightful Christmas light displays they have done over the years and given so much pleasure to people of all ages and raised lots of pennies for charity.

Time is getting close to the big day and we wonder if Chris has learn a little pure English for her Majesty at the Palace.
