A Bude man who drove when his alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit has been banned from the road for three years and put under a curfew for ten weeks.

Nigel Charles Albert Dando, aged 50, of Hollabury Road, Bude, pleaded guilty to driving a Mazda car in a public place, namely the car park of the Trelana Nursing Home, Bude, on June 4 this year, with 131 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mls of breath, the legal limit being 35 microgrammes.

Liskeard Magistrates, sitting on August 24, imposed a community order with a curfew of ten weeks, starting on August 28, when Mr Dando must remain at his home address on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8pm to 7am and carry out unpaid work for 80 hours within the next 12 months. He will be electronically monitored.

Mr Dando was disqualified from driving for three years with the ban to be reduced by 36 weeks if, by October 15, 2011, he satisfactorily completes a course approved by the Secretary of State. He was ordered to pay £200 in Crown Prosecution costs.
