INITIALLY tasked at 3.32pm on Saturday, February 9 Bude lifeboat and its crew retrieved a 14 year old boy who was cut off by the tide at Cross Rock, Summerleaze Beach with an incoming tide.
After returning the young male to the safety of the beach and within minutes of returning to station the RNLI lifeboat was tasked again to local reports of a male casualty being submerged in the River Neet which flows into the sea at Summerleaze Beach.
Upon arrival at the back of the Castle the crew found the casualty on the bank side beneath a 10 metre drop from the pathway.
The crew carried out emergency first aid and then transferred him back to the station to an awaiting ambulance.
