ON SUNDAY, July 18 the Bude Gig Clubs Juniors had their second win at Appledore Regatta. Before the race began many members of the team had doubts about the condition of the weather, as there were a few clouds in the sky, but the rain held off and the team experienced some good rowing weather.

The competition was tough and the adults battled hard with pleasing results in the Mens A and the Mixed. The juniors made all the days battling worthwhile when they cruised in, in first place for the U14 category and second place overall, which was a very proud moment for the whole club.

This was also a good first race for Bradley Davey and James Brett.

The rain started to come in at the prize-giving ceremony, where the Bude Juniors were awarded their trophy. The club came fifth overall in the competition.

July 24/25 then saw the third win for Budes Juniors at Port Gaverne. Once again then weather didnt look very promising but it soon warmed up to be a beautiful day with excellent sea conditions.

Being a local race the Club had a great turn out, and the results were brilliant. The Adults best result was in the Mixed where they came third, with two of the girls having just raced in the Ladies A. It was also the first time this season that the juniors were able to get two crews out on to the water, whereas many of the other clubs were struggling to get one crew together, it was fantastic to see the juniors flourishing.

With two crews racing at the same time they were able to borrow Boscastle and Crackingtons boat, Torrent and one of their cox, which they were very grateful for.

However, this did increase the friendly rivalry between the two clubs, and Budes boat Bedehaven, coaxed by Anthony Denford, came in first closely followed by Torrent, coaxed by Josh Teague. With such fantastic results all round their overall place was second.

Once again they would like to say thank you to Boscastle and Crackington Gig club for their support with the juniors. Also a special well done to Adam and Lewis Denford as it was their first race and first time at sea. Last weekend the club travelled to Looe to race and the juniors were hoping to keep their winning streak going.
