DURING the month of March, Bude ladies were able to join Curves and make a substantial effort to support their local community at the same time.
In an annual worldwide effort to give something back, ladies join Curves and replaced the usual joining fee with bags of
groceries. Bude Curves collected food to give to the Food Bank in Bude, a
charity organised to
support local families and individuals in crisis.
An amazing 1,140lb of non perishables were brought in by new recruits and the effort was supported by existing members. The club are close to 400 members strong.
Lorraine Mantle, owner, said: "I really enjoy Curve's annual food drive as this food is used to help across the world. It goes to help less fortunate individuals or people facing difficult life circumstances. It's always reassuring to know that help is available as life events can leave you feeling isolated and helpless. The people of Bude need to know there is help at hand.
"Claire Budden is a member at Curves-Bude and her and her husband are volunteers for the Food Bank. I approached Claire and asked if they would collect the food and put it to good use. John, her
husband has worked out that this will keep the Food Bank stocked for a good six months!"
Lorraine added: "I would just like to take this opportunity to thank the ladies for their kindness and generosity. Our club is now nearly 400 strong and the sense of fun and achievement is marked here. It's great to see
people pulling together."
