A NEW art project is coming to Bude, transforming a building fence around a local pizzeria into a quirky and modern piece of art.
The fence has surrounded La Bocca Pizza Kitchen, situated in the heart of Bude along the Strand, following work by builders at the old Strand Hotel site, which is due to be made into a new Premier Inn hotel.
More fencing has been erected around the site, in order to protect businesses either side from dust and rubble, and staff from La Bocca have contacted local artist, Steve Pinchless, from Stepping Stones, a graffiti art gallery located on Queen Street.
After meeting with representatives from Premier Inn, work on the art project is set to begin on Sunday.
La Bocca is now keen to hear from local people and artists interested in taking part, along with Steve, as well as those who would be willing to donate materials to be used for the project.
Delivery driver for the restaurant, Lance John, told the Post: “We are happy for Steve Pinchless to undertake the whole project, but other local artists’ input would be welcome, as would the donation of materials and paint, as, of yet, the expenses are being met by La Bocca.
“This project is truly aimed at making the best out of a bad situation. Hopefully, the end result will prove to be an attraction to locals and visitors alike, whilst recuperating lost trade to La Bocca, advertising the talents of the artist and promoting his Queen Street gallery, Stepping Stones, and cementing good relations between local businesses and the Premier Inn corporation.”
Staff at La Bocca are happy to hear from people with any suggestions before and during the project.
