A TOTAL of 120 young people were recognised for an incredible range of voluntary contribution to the community at the Bude Area Annual CATS (Community Action Through Sport) Awards on Wednesday, May 4.

Clair Roberts (Project Development Officer for CATS) said: "A far cry from the image that is frequently painted of young people in today's society, we witnessed projects which were inspiring to say the least and showed that youngsters are out there doing great things."

The CATS awards takes place annually to promote, recognise and reward all young people for positive contribution to their community and give them access to sports awards not afforded or considered before. The 2011 Bude CATS Awards is the third awards evening to have been held in Cornwall with CATS branches in Callington and Bodmin having held their awards evenings earlier in the year.
