EACH year Sterts picks charities to support with bucket collections at its family show and with proceeds from the Last Night of the Proms event in September.

This year more than £2,600 was raised for CHICKS and a further £1,000 was donated to the RNLI.

Sterts chosen charity was CHICKS, which has a centre in Tywardreath near St Austell. CHICKS is a national children’s charity providing free respite breaks to disadvantaged children from all over the UK. It believes every child has the right to make positive childhood memories. CHICKS began in 1992, making 2017 its 25th anniversary year

Volunteers from CHICKS collected at the Bugsy Malone shows and then Sterts shared the proceeds of the Proms concert with CHICKS and the RNLI. Roche Brass, one of the stars of the concert, is supporting the RNLI this year in memory of one of its members.

Sterts main season is now over, but the studio hosts a mix of music and theatre over the autumn, plus of course the annual ‘Carol Concert’ will be held in the theatre in December, once again raising money for charity.
