ESHER are top of the league having only lost one league match all season but at half time the Cornish All Blacks were in contention, trailing 12-3. However, conceding two 'soft tries' either side of half time was their downfall.

Esher opened the scoring after two minutes when their number eight Shawn Renwick intercepted a long pass by All Black centre Steve Perry and ran from halfway to the line for right wing Sam Ulph to convert.

Within 14 minutes the score became 12-0 when hooker James Campbell crossed from a forward drive close-in.

The All Blacks then held their own well and got on the scoreboard with Keiron Lewitt kicking as penalty on the half hour after a fracas which saw a prop apiece, Tom Warren for Esher and Tim Matthias sin-binned.

Nine minutes into the second half the All Blacks were not helped by a further sin-binning for their fly half Lewis Webb; and in addition their centre Steve Perry was replaced by Jake Murphy after he accidentally sustained a badly broken jaw.

Esher replacement wing James Copsey made a sharp break and linked with left wing Johnnie Hylton who scored a breakaway try for full back Ross Chisholm to add the conversion.

A penalty just before the 50th minute from Chisholm made it 22-3.

Esher men maintained their pressure and just after the hour Jewell showed his class and ran right through the All Blacks to score for Chisholm again to add the extras.

There was no way back for the visitors, but they competed vigorously right until the end and in the last quarter Esher failed to add to their score.

Esher have access to premiership players with the jewel crown arguably their superb centre of the same name, Seb Jewell.

The All Blacks gave as good as they got in scrum and lineout with lock Ben Hilton and hooker Jamie Salter prominent, but Esher looked much the sharper overall.
