WHAT do JK Rowling, Daniel Radcliffe, Ross Kemp and Amanda Holden have in common, apart from being famous?

Well, as of Wednesday last week, they have all visited the legendary Margaret’s Rustic Tea Garden, situated at Northcott Mouth, near Bude.

While on her travels in the South West, Amanda Holden and her friend, Jane Wall, stopped at Margaret’s to sample one of her classic cream teas.

But as ever, despite the celebrities dropping in, the owner, Margaret Frost, makes sure that she’s as professional as possible.

Margaret said: “I’ve had several celebrities come to me before, but I don’t even acknowledge them as being famous. I just treat them the same as if it was any normal person as they’ve come down on holiday and don’t want people like me bothering them. I think it’s rude when people go hassling them so I just leave them to it.”

“However, Amanda asked me whether I could take a selfie with her, which of course I did, so that was nice. That cheered me up, as that morning, I turned up and my food had been stolen out the fridge, which is obviously extremely annoying.”

The tea garden is a thing of legend in Bude, situated in an idyllic location, just off the beach on the South West Coast Path, a stream and mini bridge separate the two parts of the garden.

Visitors can tuck into her famous homemade scones which are filled to the rafters with jam and cream while there are a number of other options available such as pasties and sandwiches.
