THREE Torridge District Councillors have joined forces to help refurbish Vealand Bridge, over the popular Bude Canal by Vealand Farm in Pancrasweek, near Holsworthy.
Cllrs Ken James, Howard Ratledge and Michael Footitt have donated a total of £900 from part of their Community Grant allowances to help with the project.
The money was used to refurbish Vealand Bridge, helping towards Bude Canal Trusts' continued work to preserve the canal, the aqueduct, footpaths and wildlife habitat.
Work on the canal, which runs from Bude to Holsworthy, started almost 200 years ago and is now promoted by the Bude Canal Trust, which owns a continuous five-mile length known as the Aqueduct branch.
