FOLLOWING a tiring defeat on Saturday Bude faced another long trip on Sunday, writes Rebecca Chidley.

After a timely delay over umpires not arriving on time the game finally got started half an hour late. Bude started shakily conceding a penalty flick in the first few minutes; fortunately Rachel stepped up to the occasion and made a fine save to prevent Bude going behind.

This save motivated Bude to step up their game with the midfield of Tammy, Naomi, Katie and Chids starting to take control and create opportunities for the forwards.

Bude opened the scoring after a great passing spell which led to Perdi squaring the ball for Maggie to put in the back of the net.

Bretforton equalised from a short corner a few minutes later. The defence of Rachel, Miranda, Bryony and Kirsty stayed strong for the remainder of the half and Bude eventually went back in front with a great individual run and goal from Tammy.

In the second half Bude experienced some persistent pressure from Bretforton which meant limited opportunities for the forward line of Leanne, Maggie, Fiona and Perdi.

Despite some resolute team work and defending from Bude they found themselves facing another penalty flick. Bretforton proceeded to score this time so got themselves back in the game. With a few minutes to go tired legs from a tough weekend began to show and the game ended 2-2.

Bude: Rachel Pomeroy, Bryony Varcoe, Kirsty Heslop, Miranda Pomeroy, Rebecca Chidley, Tammy Snowsill, Naomi Hatcher, Katie Heard, Leanne Edermaniger, Maggie Hooper, Fiona Berry and Perdi Sobey.
