POLICE are examining CCTV footage following a break-in at the Spar shop at Newport in the early hours of last Friday morning.
Police were alerted to the incident by an unconfirmed intruder alarm. Officers arrived at the scene within five minutes and confirmed that there had been a break-in. The key holder was also at the premises.
Cash totalling £290 was taken from the till and damage was caused to the electronic sliding doors and the cash machine.
Scenes of Crime officers were called to see if any evidence had been left. Officers also accessed CCTV, and it appears that three men had entered the shop.
The first man appeared to be wearing a dark jacket and trousers and a blue cap; the second was wearing a grey and black top, a black balaclava and white footwear; and the third man was possibly wearing camouflage trousers and a white shirt under a dark top.
Police have also been making inquiries to neighbouring businesses to see if they have any CCTV footage that could help the investigation.
Members of the town's Shopwatch scheme have been informed of the incident and advised to be vigilant.
