samba is coming to Bude with an all new singing and dancing Samba Band.

The band, developed by Dick Taylor and Sallie MacLennan, will start on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at The Parkhouse Centre and will run weekly from 7.15 to 9.15pm.

Samba will be taught by Sallie, who fell in love with music, song and dance from Brazil and has been performing and teaching ever since. While developing her own contemporary street style, she blended her knowledge of Latin, Brazilian and African music and dance. As a result of this, En Masse, her first stage show was formed. This went on to influence her as choreographer to Samba Galêz for 12 years and more recently, founder and musical director of Barracwda, a powerhouse of samba percussion which she continues to grow in Cardiff.

Anyone who takes part will learn the beats and rhythms of Brazilian music with a smattering of James Brown and other genres intertwined. All instruments are provided from drums to shakers and everyone will get the opportunity to try each one.

The group is initially for those aged 16+ and no prior experience is necessary.

The very first launch session is free and thereafter will cost £5 per week.
