BUDE Rubbish Action Group’s co-ordinators were invited to attend a celebration with Clean Cornwall recently.

Bude Rubbish Action Group (BRAG) was founded by local man Paul Crum, who was disheartened to see so much rubbish and litter polluting the streets of Bude.

With plenty of beach clean groups already established, Paul wanted to create a group to stop any rubbish in its tracks on the streets, preventing it from causing damage to wildlife and making its way into the local water systems and beaches.

Paul now runs BRAG with his wife Laila, and the pair were invited to attend the Clean Cornwall Highstreet Fund celebration recently.

Paul and Laila gave a talk to others in attendance explaining how the Highstreet grant they received last year has helped to benefit the local community.

Laila said: “It was a great event and a lot of networking was done afterwards. We were so surprised that we had people lining up to talk to us as so many people all over Cornwall had heard of BRAG, and all the things Bude is achieving.

“What was more of a surprise was three out of the five Keep Britain Tidy litter ambassadors for Cornwall (including Paul) were in the same room!”
