Despite the wet weather, the Rural Community Fun Day held at Bradworthy on Thursday, May 7 was a great success. With activities and stalls both inside the school and out on the playing fields, there was plenty for visitors to see and do. Information on various services in the area was available from numerous organisations including Wheels to Work, Holsworthy Adult and Community Learning and the Senior Council, as well as local groups such as Bradworthy Brownies and Guides, the Smart Club and the Bradworthy Playing Fields Committee who are looking into obtaining funding for new play equipment in the park. Amongst the activities out on the playing fields were sumo suits, a bouncy castle and bbq, as well as bushcraft skills from the Forestry Commission. PCSO Raquel Rowe, who was involved in organising the event said: "It was really good. The day was well supported by all the community. The weather didn't spoil things." The event was opened by the Bradworthy Carnival Queen and Senior Citizen Queen.
