A MORWENSTOW man has completed the Kayak Cornwall Challenge, raising more than £1,300 in the process for the Marine Conservation Society.
Bradley Olde saw the challenge advertised in December, and decided to sign up.
He said: “I thought that it was a great opportunity to prove to myself what I am capable of doing despite my cardiac arrest back in 2015, and it turned out to do just that.”
Brad was a very fit 20-year-old preparing to join the Royal Navy, when in May 2015 he suffered a cardiac arrest while out running.
He had a hypoxic brain injury and a long road to recovery, spending four months in hospital.
He took part in the Kayak Cornwall Challenge from May 6 to May 10, kayaking 12 miles and raising £1,336.15.
He chose to fundraise for the Marine Conservation Society because of his love of the sea.
All money raised will help the MCS’ vision to enrich the seas with wildlife, keep beaches pollution free and for people to enjoy for future generation.
Brad added: “Big thanks to Joel Perkin Jnr of Shoreline Adventure, as we have been training since December 2016 and I have come a long way since the beginning of training. Thank you everybody for donating! It was a difficult challenge, but for the experience and the donations, it was well worth it!”
