KINGFISHER Nursery, Boyton are not only celebrating the recent birth of six little chicks but also the results of their recent Ofsted inspection.
For the third time since Kingfisher Nursery opened its doors in 2002 from the school hall of Boyton School, the group has been awarded the top grade from Ofsted; this small community pre-school has been awarded 'outstanding' — a just reward for all the hard work by staff and committee alike.
In her report, the inspector said: "The staff at Kingfisher Nursery have successfully maintained its outstanding provision, which was identified in its previous inspection. The care and welfare of the children are high priorities for the staff and they ensure that all children are fully included in all aspects of the setting; the staff provide very high quality provision."
The inspector also said: "An excellent range of stimulating activities is available for the children and they all thoroughly enjoy their time in the setting... behaviour is exemplary."
She noted that outside "the children participate fully and develop physical, imaginative and communication skills extremely well."
The inspector went on to say: "Partnerships with parents, the school and other agencies are outstanding. There are excellent links with support services for children with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to ensure they get all the support to which they are entitled. Parents feel very well informed about their child and the curriculum offered to their child in this outstanding setting."
The manager, Lorraine Sluggett, said that she was overjoyed by the result but that it would not have been obtained without the support of her deputy manager, assistants and committee members who will not stand still as work continues by making improvements to the access and outside areas of the nursery building.
The nursery, which takes children from two to five years, offers sessions from Monday to Thursday, being open all day on a Wednesday and offering a Lunch Club facility on a Tuesday. For more information call Lorraine on 0779 221 0902.
