A young boy from Holsworthy is helping to encourage motorists to slow down with his winning sign design.
Kai Scranage, aged nine, entered a competition at Old Market Place organised by Cavanna Homes to design a speed awareness sign for the estate.
He was delighted to win first place as voted for by the residents.
He has since seen his design made into two signs that are now on the estate and has received a bonus prize of £25.
Proud mother Natasha Hewitt said: “Kai was so happy to have won and couldn’t believe it. We were talking about what he could draw and the idea of a using a snail to signify slowing down came up so he went with that.”
She added: “I thought this was a great achievement and something to celebrate.
“I’m very proud of his achievement and wanting to keep his street safe. Also wanted to thank Steve and Jenni Connor who organised and ran the competition on behalf of Cavanna and who have done a lot for the street if that’s okay.”
