BOWOOD Park Seniors 'A' team played very well in poor conditions at Roserrow in the Harry Champion competition but were beaten for the trophy on countback. Congratulations to the players for the runners-up position: Dick Eagle & Richard Parsons, Steve Steadman & Dave Dungate, Alan May & Ken Metcalfe, and John Harbinson & Alec Luckin.
The Summer Match Play competition has reached the last eight and the matches are: Ron Bosley v Rob Thomson, Richard Parsons v Alan Stockwell, Bill Trewin v Steve Steadman and Alan May v Dave Lawton with last year's finalists still in the competition.
We have played four friendly matches this month at home winning them all.
The first produced a convincing 8-0 victory against Truro.
The next against Perranporth was won 51/2-21/2. The winning pairs were: Dick Eagle & Alan Stockwell, Alan May & Bob Lemza, Alec Luckin & Steve Steadman, Dave Dungate & Terry Ainsworth, and Don Tanner & Mike Ward, Mike also won the bottle of wine for nearest the pin.
A comfortable 71/2-1/2 victory against St Austell with Paul Vickery winning the bottle of wine for nearest the pin.
The fourth match, against Killiow, was close with the home side winning 41/2-31/2. The captain Dick Eagle and his partner Don Teague halving their game after being 4 down with 6 to play, and wins for: Alec Luckin & Ray Hammonds, Alan Stockwell & John Green, Dave Lawton & Mike Ward, and Bill Trewin & Robert Fry. Dave Lawton won the bottle of wine for nearest the pin on the 6th.
Unfortunately, the two away matches at Truro and Roserrow were abandoned due to the weather.
