BOSCASTLE WI won the 2018 Royal Cornwall Show cup with their staged exhibit reflecting ‘a picnic on the beach’.
The exhibit had to include two items of craft, both a savoury and sweet item of cookery, and an item made from beachcombing finds.
Marshgate WI placed 2nd and Bude joint 3rd.
Mary Shepherd, member of Boscastle WI, was proud to receive the cup from show president, Sir Nicholas Bacon, who talked of the imagination on show in the WI entries.
Mary said: “The standard is always so high, we enter and think we have done what we can — we were pleased with out exhibit.
“[Boscastle WI] are absolutely delighted. This year we have done very well.”
Margaret Johnson, federation chairman, said: “The standard of entries this year, particularly the WI corporate entries, have been really high. The judges’ marks between the top ones are quite close. The floral exhibits are lovely. I only wish we had more people entering. The public seem to be receiving it well and we are getting some lovely comments.
“Everybody has the same brief but each one is so different, it’s always amazing to see.”
