THE owner of a Boscastle business has criticised the National Trust for not doing more to make the area by the road bridge safe.
Peter Dixon, proprietor of Clovelly Clothing, is concerned by the danger to residents and visitors by the lack of a permanent fence by the river adjacent to his shop.
He has contacted the National Trust on a number of occasions, but they have not rectified the situation.
Mr Dixon felt that something was needed, and so fixed his own posts and rope to make the area a little safer.
He said: "There should be something a bit more permanent. It's got to be a health and safety issue."
Recently, Mr Dixon saw a child playing on the bank and contacted the trust again about the problem, and they then put up some more rope.
"It's a very, very long drop there and something permanent needs to be done," he added.
She has spoken with the area warden who confirmed that a contractor would visit the site on Monday to raise the height of the wall. This will reduce the angle of the bank.
The problem, she added, will be rectified next week.
