WHAT a success! On Saturday evening, September 3, St Breward welcomed the Boscastle Buoys to a ‘Musical Evening’ held in the village church.
The Boscastle Buoys sang a range of songs, many with a Cornish theme, which had the audience of over a hundred people tapping their feet and singing along.
Halfway through the St Breward handbell ringers played several tunes followed by The Benefice Choir who sang a variety of songs to entertain the audience. Following this the Boscastle Buoys sang again — their songs interspersed with comic banter.
The concert finished with the audience on their feet joining in with a rousing rendition of Trelawney.
After all the revelry, the Rev Canon Sherry Bryan thanked all the performers for a wonderful evening and praised the Boscastle Buoys for bringing their particular brand of singing and fun to St Breward. The evening ended with a prayer of thanksgiving.
Light refreshments were served, the raffle was drawn and lots of chatter ensued — it was a very successful and happy evening.
A profit of over £500 was raised for The Friends of St Breward Church, which raises money for the upkeep of the fabric of the church.
A donation was also given to The Boscastle Buoys, who raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care.
