THE Boscastle Buoys have raised a total amount of £30,000 for Cornwall Hospice Care through various fundraising events, which they presented in a cheque to the charity’s fundraiser, Catherine Robins recently.

The Boscastle Buoys formed some ten years ago, with a core group of about five, meeting at the Napoleon Inn and singing a few songs for their own enjoyment. Others joined the group and the ‘Boscastle Buoys’ were formed about seven years ago.

Raymund Rogers, a renowned Boscastle artist, and one of the founding members of the Buoys, sadly passed away at Mount Edgecombe and the Buoys decided to raise funds for this worthy cause.

Shaking the pink bucket and receiving performance fees from local organisers, the Buoys have raised and given over £30,000 to Cornwall Hospice Care to date.

The Buoys have also produced two CDs, helping the fundraising exploits — ‘Safe and Sound’ and ‘The Reason Why’ — with the third in the planning stages.

The singers have performed at various venues over the years, including Boardmasters, Truro Cathedral, Falmouth Music Festival, Looe Music Festival, Carnglaze Cavern, Plymouth University, Royal Cornwall Show, and various pubs, clubs and events.

The Buoys presented a cheque, covering all donations to date, to Cornwall Hospice Care fundraiser, Catherine Robins, on Tuesday, November 7. This was a summary of all the fundraising undertaken by the singers, showing how the charity has benefited from the £30,000 raised.
