'The Ice Cream Dream', a second book of short-fiction stories by Boscastle author Christopher Johnson has been published in paperback. Like his first collection, 'Daylight Robbery', the stories feature evocative scenes set in North Cornwall and include cameos of Cornish characters. The collection of six stories explores different themes: Love (the love affair of a West Country couple is shattered when a young man is presumed dead in Iraq); Deception (a crown court judge is entrapped by a villain who is brought before him); Chance (a reckless gambler is forced into fraudery); Crime (the infatuation of a boy involves him in a mafiosi's revenge); Murder (a coincidence propels an innocent man towards a nightmare) and intrigue (when a private detective becomes entangled in corporate corruption). Johnson writes fast-paced, atmospheric and tantalising fiction based on real-life characters and events. He is currently working on a third collection of stories and will publish a novel, 'Twice upon a Time in the West', in the autumn. The illustrated collection of 272 pages is available direct from the author ([email protected]">[email protected]).
