A LOOK into the paranormal at Lawrence House Museum recently raised more than £500 to support the great work being carried out by its volunteers.
Karin Beasant and Colin Symonds, of the ‘Ghosts of Launceston’ paranormal team, were keen to put their skills to good use and raise funds for the town’s museum.
Karin said: “As you know in current economic times council’s are having to tighten their belts and there isn’t always funding available to support venture’s like Lawrence House.
“They have some fantastic displays, all put together by the wonderful team of volunteers, and we wanted to supplement in a discrete and beneficial way the work they are doing.”
Karin added: “The night went extremely well and everyone had a fabulous time. We were so chuffed to make £540 for the museum and its volunteers.”
Karin was grateful to former mayor of the town for helping get the event underway she said: “A big thank you to Brian Hogan and Anita White for kindly giving up their time to opening up the Lawrence House Museum.”
Karin said the event did not seek to suggest Lawrence House Museum is ‘the most haunted property in Launceston’ but to promote the town’s museum as a place to visit.
“The most important thing of course is not to promote it as a haunted venue, but to promote the museum as somewhere for everyone to visit and see what fantastic displays there are.”
She added: “Don’t get me wrong, there were a few ‘bumps’ shall we say that even we weren’t expecting but that is just the luck of the draw.”
