A SPONSORED darts marathon took place at Bude Social Club on May 7 from 10am to 6pm on behalf of Talan’s Journey.

Talan Penny is a well-known popular Bude boy, who at the age of 18 was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Talan was in his last term at Budehaven Community School studying BTEC Sport. His chosen career path was with the Royal Air Force. His positive attitude has been an inspiration to his family and so many friends.

Thanks were expressed to the nine wonderful ladies who heard of Talan’s illness and were only too willing to volunteer to play a darts marathon — players Rosie, who organised the marathon, Joan, Marie, Chris, Gloria, Di, Lindy, Ange V and Ange E and to Thelma for selling the draw tickets.

The magnificent amount of £1,550 was raised. Talan and his family expressed thanks to everyone who donated to his journey, and those who donated prizes, and to Bude Social Club.
