FIVE gardens opened their gates to the public on Sunday, June 24, for Bridgerule Village Open Gardens in aid of the Devon and Cornwall Air Ambulance charities.
On a warm and sunny day, the event attracted visitors from far and wide.
Cindy and Roger Neep were kept busy in their garden at Tamar House serving refreshments including light lunches, while Nick and Polly Brewer of Glebe House quenched many a thirst by offering glasses of Pimms.
Other gardens open were Uplands, Canna Park and the Bridge Mill where a prize draw was held.
The village hall offered light refreshments in the morning plus a cake stall, followed by cream teas in the afternoon.
Volunteer helpers from both chapel and church congregations helped to make this a truly community event.
The sum of £2,345 was raised on the day with the proceeds being divided equally between the Devon and Cornwall Air Ambulance charities.
Cheques were presented to representatives of both charities in the garden of Tamar House on Tuesday, July 3.
This brings the total raised by the village open gardens event over eleven years up to £25,004.
