A BOMB disposal expert from Launceston has been recognised for helping a village in Afghanistan, get back on its feet, after dealing with improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Sgt James Donoghue, aged 26, 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment Royal Logistic Corporation, is attached to Plymouth-based 42 Commando Royal Marines.
A qualified high threat operator, Sgt Donoghue is able to not only destroy IEDs but also render them safe for further analysis. It makes him one of the most highly qualified bomb disposal experts in Afghanistan and a sought after specialist.
