There was a good number of entries in this year’s garden show held at Treknow Village Hall on Saturday, July 25.
The children made bunting and potato prints, along with flower arrangements in tin cans, and decorated fairy cakes. The judge was Jean Whiting and the overall winner in the younger age group was Eliza Daglish with William Grosse taking the honours for the older children.
The flower classes were particularly well supported, despite atrocious weather on the previous couple of days.
The judge, Leanne Nute, was impressed with the range and quality of the flowers used. The cookery classes are always popular and judge Julie Sandercock enjoyed sampling the entries.
Clive Sandercock judged the vegetables, wonky ones and all, and was particularly taken with the dishes of summer fruits.
Julie and Clive took along some memorabilia of the late Reg Climo from the time when he took part in Tintagel Horticultural Show and visitors enjoyed looking at some of the old schedules and certificates.
The joint points winners were Janet Douglas and Rod Cooper. Cups were presented by the chair of Treknow Village Garden Club, Sophie Georgiou.
