A SUMMER holiday challenge was set for the pupils at Bradford and Bridgerule Primary Schools by new Headteacher, Mrs Jo Dymond, who took up post over both schools at the beginning of this month.

The children had been set the task to create a weather and water proof plant container which could be hung or stood outside the schools' main entrances, making use of something that might normally have been thrown out.

The pupils rose to the challenge brilliantly, creating masterpieces from old items such as a bathroom pedal bin; empty plastic bottles, an old riding hat, old tyres and even an old sink!

A prize was to be awarded for both classes in each school, with all entrants designing and making delightful plant containers that will adorn the entrances to welcome visitors to the schools.
