FOLLOWING the success of last year’s totally digital festival, the Charles Causley Trust has decided that 2021 is the year to take it one step further; a hybrid festival.
A spokesperson said: “So what is a hybrid festival we hear you ask, well, with the current concerns for personal safety for all festival attendees, in accordance with the current coronavirus pandemic guidelines the festival will be taking place across two platforms, both the real world and the digital one. What this means for the festival is, while the majority of the events will be online and can be easily enjoyed from the comfort of your own home, a limited number of performances and events will be in person based in and around Charles’ home town of Launceston.”
Between July 23 and 25, the festival will be blending together physical performances from a variety of family friendly outdoor events including Scratchworks Theatre Company: The Grimm Sisters, Miracle Theatres: Star Crazy and Poetry Postie — Sally Crabtree, along with some old favourites giving festival participants the opportunity to explore this historic Cornish town and while supporting local businesses by following the Launceston Shop Window Exhibition.
Like last year hosting events online, the Causley Trust can reach an audience further afield, bringing people together in a time when community has never been so important; keeping true to Charles’ poetic themes of place and friendship.
As with last year some of the events will be payable and many will be free of charge, however due to social distancing guidelines for face-to-face events and the availability of online tickets some events may have a limited number of spots so be sure to check out the ‘Cornish Riviera Box Office’ link below to book yours.
