LAUGHABLE Entertainment, a comedy and spoken word promotion company, celebrated its first birthday last month.
Laughable Entertainment was started by James Maunder and Andrew Smallridge in July 2018. Laughable is a comedy and spoken word show promoter. It offers the best in touring stand-up comedy and ‘audience with’ shows. With reach across South Devon and the Cornwall-Devon border the team provide standout shows in unique venues. Laughable began with its first show, Gary Delaney — Gagster’s Paradise, at The Red House Theatre, Plymouth, in October last year. It now has regular shows across the region in Launceston, Plymouth and Paignton.
Laughable’s focus is on bringing quality touring comedy and entertainment to an area of the region with a dearth of shows with recognisable TV names.
James said: “We were tired of travelling from Plymouth, to Exeter or Truro, to see good stand-up comedy. That’s why we thought we could do better.”
Laughable has continued, over the past 12 months, to expand its venue offering, adding both Launceston Town Hall and The Palace Theatre, Paignton, to its original venue of the Red House Theatre in Plymouth, thus enabling Laughable to offer ‘mini tours’ of the region.
With such notable names as Alan Carr, Rich Hall, Tom Allen and Mark Steel, who have all been sell-out shows to date, this autumn’s mouth-watering line up of Hal Cruttenden, Andy Parsons, Jack Dee and Griff Rhys Jones are all selling well with some shows already sold out.
Andrew added: “We have been very lucky with the quality of the comedians we’ve been able to book so far and can’t wait for the comedy royalty we have coming this autumn. It’s a great way to celebrate our first birthday.”
