DELABOLE Christmas lights committee’s Easter fundraising was kicked off with the Easter bingo on Wednesday, April 17.

Growing concern sponsored £100 for a cash prize, and this, with some other great prizes that had been donated, made it very rewarding to all the winners in both the bingo and raffle.

Next was the Easter egg hunt, starting on Monday, April 15 and finishing on Monday, April 22.

There were nine letters to be found scattered around the village and 14 questions had to have the answers searched for. Ninety-two sheets were sold and it was good to see families taking part and doing the hour-long walk around the village.

Every sheet returned won an Easter egg at the committee’s event on the Monday afternoon, where there was an abundance of crafts, refreshments, raffle and face painting. Judging by comments received, it was enjoyed by all who participated, with some having learnt more about their village in the process.

This is thought to have been the biggest Easter egg hunt Delabole has ever had, and is now hoped to become a yearly tradition that can only grow and get bigger and better.

A spokesperson from the committee said: “We would like to thank everyone that participated, helped and donated prizes. We raised a grand total of £1,104.14.”
