BUDE Police have reported a number of bike thefts in and around Bude. There have been four reported in the last two weeks.

PSCO Lester Marland said: "The thefts are generally taking place in the hours of darkness and where the bikes have not been secured. I would ask that everybody takes adequate steps to secure their property and reduce the opportunity for thieves in our communities to conduct their activities."

Bude Police would like to make the public aware that they will be assisting them in safeguarding their bikes, by running a security bike marking scheme on Friday, April 17, at Bude Football Ground, on Broadclose Hill.

This is in conjunction with the Easter Community Treasure Challenge, which is an event being co-ordinated by the NHS and the Change For Life campaign. Bring your bikes along to the event between 1pm and 3pm to ensure that they can security marked.
